Beach Bay Cottage

Visitor Book

These are a selection of reviews left in the visitors book in the cottage.  You can see the Reevoo comments which are independently verified on the or Scotish Country Cottages websites.

  • Saint, Hampshire. Unusual and well thought out cottage in a wonderful location overlooking Uig Bay. We enjoyed watching the tide going in and out and seeing all the wading birds following it. Our highlight has been seeing the sea otter early one morning swimming and coming out onto the beach.  We have been very lucky with the weather.  A couple of beautiful sunsets and superb lighting for our two keen photographers. We even managed to see a golden eagle close enough to take good pictures.  This is an absolute must for bird watchers and photographers with an added bonus of a first class restaurant next door and a whisky distillery in walking distance.
  • Richmond, Livingston. This has been the holiday we were hoping for – relaxing, unrushed, plenty of wildlife, stunning views and typically Scottish weather rain, hail and sunshine all in one day!  The cottage is well equipped, comfy and luxurious “ the view gorgeous!  As an animal artist, I'€™ve felt so inspired and managed to see most of the wildlife I had hoped to.  Highly recommend 40 North for gorgeous takeaway food, Cafe Sonas in Port of Ness and Rarebird for unique Harris tweed gifts.  We stopped at a weaver called Norman in Carloway, very informative.  The Stones and the blackhouse equally worth a visit.  I am feeling sorry to be leaving tomorrow, but hope to be back to the island in the future.  Thank you for a lovely stay and a chance to unwind.
  • Needham, Worcestershire. Cottage, location, people wonderful.  Scenery magical.  Congratulations to George and Lynda for having the imagination to build on this amazing site.  We have watched the colour change from minute to minute.  I have never seen Barry so relaxed, reading, just gazing at the view, but we have also managed to see every part of Harris and Lewis.  Will read Peter May’s trilogy and live every bit of it!  Thank you Tosh and Ged for rescuing us and also for the lovely welcome pack.  Just seen the eagle!!
  • Michael, Windsor. Beautiful, well equipped cottage. Superb location. Everything you need has been provided for.
  • Sneddon, Cheshire.  Although the weather was quite rough, we absolutely loved it here as we had a perfect excuse to spend most time in this lovely cottage and enjoyed the changing views!  Had a wonderful week.
  • Beal.  First time in Lewis, great week - a dramatic location, so much more to do but just walking on the beach and in the caves is enough.  Wonderful house, every detail considered.  Thank you so much
  • Alison and Neville from Wolverhampton. We arrived in the dark and woke up to this stunning ever changing view.  A truly remarkable house that has had so much thought put into it.  Thank you Tosh for your help and to George and Lynda.  Our stay has been memorable.
  • Jon and Juliette, Surrey. Having spent the last five christmas's in cottages in Scotland my partner and I both agreed that Beach Bay Cottage was the best yet. The cottage itself is absolutely stunning. It has been so well cared for and looked after that you fel like your the very first ones to stay there but it has a wonderfully cozy and warm feeling at the same time and we never tired of the beautiful and ever changing view from the 180 degree windows. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and the two bathrooms are amazing. As keen kayakers it was fabulous to be able to walk the kayaks down to the beach and launch them into a beautifully sheltered and shallow bay, spend a few hours in the sea and then come back to a wonderfully warm and cozy cottage. We arrived late on our first night and were greeted with some really well thought out goodies to welcome us. A bottle of wine, some smoked salmon and oatcakes which was genuinely welcome after a long journey and very much appreciated. Thank you George and Lynda for your very thoughtful Christmas gift too and to Tosh who made us feel very welcome. If you're a keen bird watcher then you won't be disappointed. We saw loads of different birds whilst staying in the cottage including Eagles. If you're considering Beach Bay Cottage for a holiday then go for it, you won't be disappointed, it's amazing and I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending it.  We’d love to come back and experience the cottage in the summer but it looks to be fully booked!
  • Jane, Keane and Bonnie from Nottingham. A little “babymoon” for us while I am still capable of tying my own walking boots.  We have never splashed out before, but BOY was this worth every penny! Amazing house, views to die for, a warm welcome and gorgeous extras like the jacuzzi bath and sauna (and Christmas pressies and card and decorations) were so delightful.  Our 3 year old doesn’t want to go outâ€Ã‚¦and we can see why! Such luxury and beauty is absolutely priceless and we so much hope to return.  Thank you George and Lynda for sharing your house with us and to Tosh for the attentive help and welcome.

  • Lena and Nick from London and Moscow. • Brown, Aberdeen. We've fallen in  love with Lewis and especially with this little corner.  It's all been said - the views, the walks, the wildlife...but also the cleanliness (we've seen virtually no litter) and the sense of community spirit and responsibility that we rarely see in the city.  The cottage is perfect - very well equipped and brilliantly designed.  We don't want to leave!!!  A week is not enough.  Thank you George, Lynda and Tosh
